Hardware devices — types of material

Every type of material (analog/physical object) has an appropriate capture device (hardware). Some devices can capture several types. Here is a list of devices with objects.

  • Scanner - Books, Handwriting, Photographs, Documents, photo slides
  • Camera-photo - Paintings, Large paper formats, Archaeological sites, Sculptures, 3D objects, Video
  • Audio Capture - Gramophone (records), Cassette Deck (cassette tape), Tape (audio tape), Compact Disc, Audio recorders, (CD) player - Sound Card recommended
  • Video Capture - VHS player, BETA player, film projector - Video Capture device needed
