Explaining some terms used in the context of this handbook
(Cultural Heritage) Asset: element in your collection you may want to digitise, such as the document, image, audio/video recording, object, building, historic town etc.
Digitisation: The process to create a digital representation of your cultural heritage asset(s)
Data: the digital representation of your cultural heritage asset(s)
Metadata: the digital description of what your data represent, especially of key concepts like description, time, place, creator. But also how the data can be (re-)used and how it was created. See chapter 6 maintenance and improvement of the (meta-) data (data management)
